In the light recent events previously unheard of eg. The Singapore Tattoo Show, an all too familiar question comes to mind. How open and accepting are we to different entities?
Sure, our country has been opening up a great deal in the past 2 years or so. Slightly less than a decade ago, rock concerts were virtually unheard of locally. But last year, bands like Incubus, Motley Crue, Avenged Sevenfold graced our shores. Even the widely-controversal musical, Avenue Q, which featured sesame street-like puppets acting and discussing ethically-questionable topics, was staged here. And of course, we kick off 2009 with a bang by staging the first Singapore Tattoo Show.
Quite apparently, open-mindedness is being rigourously encouraged. But as to whether these methods are formidable, whether the populace will view these events and activities with a mind as open as their organisers, only time will tell.
